Software deployment is the ability of a program or software to be installed into a system in a computer. For instance, many programs or software in the computing industry uses another program to deploy or install their system or program into a computer, programs like this is what is called Software Deployment Tool. The word deploy means is to unfold, open, spread, and distribute. A software deployment process is a process in which a specific system will be distributed in another location. Deployment is not only intended in local service, but also in a network environment.

Software deployment tool simply collects the specific data and files, and even other programs, in a specific system, and deploys or distributes them in another system. A backbone or one of the most important software deployment tools is imaging software.

Computer Imaging Software is a tool that takes a snapshot of an entire entity, whether it to be the whole drive, the whole partition, or it can be a single folder, it will make an exact copy on whatever source it will take a snapshot of. Computer imaging software is very beneficial because of the speed of the operation that takes place. For example, operating system installation can take up to 2 hours, plus the drivers that are needed to be installed, and of course the programs and the updates. So a complete system installation usually takes place in 2 to 3 hours.

Now what the imaging software does is to get all the files and information of a specific source, a partition, drive, or folder even, and saves it to a file. The file where all the necessary data collected are is the one call as the image file. An image file is a file that is a snapshot of a specific source.

Taken from the example given above, it is really quite tedious to format and install the same programs to a number of computer units all over again and again and again. It is best if the use of imaging software be of great disposal. For a full system installation it takes up to 3 hours, while using an image file and deploying it in a single computer will only take up to 30 minutes, time will also be lessen depending upon the size of the image file. Computer imaging is also a good practice, incase the computer will bug down, it can easily be restored using a software’s deployment tool of a computer imaging software.
